Its sensational waves also make this beach a landmark of surf spots where lovers of sports and skiing recreation meet. Local, national and international competitions are regularly organized.

SAINT-JEAN-D'ORBESTIER DU LITTORAL ABBEY

The foundation of the Saint-Jean d'Orbestier Abbey is located in front of the sea at the Château d'Olonne in the Vendée.

Formerly a Benedictine monastery, after success, prosperity and destruction, the abbey is now open to the public all year round. There are cultural events during which contemporary artists invest the place with bold installations. Guided tours are also organised throughout the summer.

THE CHURCH SAINT-HILAIRE DU CHATEAU D'OLONNE

No need to look for a castle at the Olonne Castle... The castle of Olonne that did exist was replaced by the church of Saint-Hilaire, bearing the name of the evangelizing bishop of the region. It is possible to visit it in the summer during the «Heritage walks», every day from 3 pm to 6 pm.
