Information on the 2024 Vendée Globe: starting date and entrants
Starting date of the 2024 Vendée Globe
For the 10th race, the 2024 Vendée Globe will start on 10 November 2024 in Les Sables d'Olonne. The countdown has already been under way for many months for the organisers and skippers who want to take part.
It will then be around mid-January 2025 that we will have the first reports from the skippers who will have completed between 40,000 and 50,000 km at sea.
Entrants to the 2024 Vendée Globe
After 33 entrants to the race in 2020, there will be 40 entrants in 2024, proof of the scale and appeal of the event. The list is not yet final. Competitors who have entered must take part in several intermediate qualifying races to decide which skippers will have the chance to take part in the biggest race in the world.

Three weeks of festivities in Les Sables d’Olonne
The 2024 Vendée Globe is a highly anticipated sports event, which will really start in mid-October with the inauguration of the famous departure village. The Vendée Globe Village is open to the public and enables everyone to discover the world of sailing and to enjoy the festive and friendly atmosphere surrounding the event.
Between the inauguration and the start of the race, the Vendée Globe village offers 3 weeks of festivities in the centre of Les Sables d'Olonne. The Vendée resort of Les Sables has been the home port of the competition's yachts since 1989: every 4 years, the start and finish of this solo round the world race liven up the autumn and winter of the famous seaside village.

The same goes for the L'Océan 5-star Campsite of the Cybele Vacances group, located in Brem-sur-Mer, 15 minutes from Les Sables d'Olonne, which offers you the same services to attend this world-famous event.
In 2020, the Vendée Globe had a rich programme of events
For the last race, the 2020 Vendée Globe village had a rich programme for families every day of the three weeks preceding the big start. In particular, visitors to the village were able to meet the skippers, with the winner of the previous race and record holder of the competition, Armel Le Cléac'h. The daily activities organised on the site are varied: cooking workshops, conferences and interviews, presentation of the skippers and their yachts, traditional shows, sea shanties, as well as variety concerts and street shows, right up to the show for the start of the yachts. The 6,000 m2 exhibition including the stands of hundreds of exhibitors and race partners were accessible free of charge.
In total, and in spite of the lockdown due to the pandemic crisis, over 200,000 people still visited the Vendée Globe village.
Bel Air Campsite and L'Océan Campsite, open until the beginning of November in Les Sables d'Olonne and Brem-sur-Mer, allowed a large number of holidaymakers to attend this unmissable event! In 2024, with far fewer health restrictions, the village should see a record number of visitors, and the campsites will of course be open to allow you to go to it!
More information soon on the dates of the village and the campsite opening dates.
